State 529 Matching Grant Program Summary

Some 529 College Savings Plans offer innovative features to increase plan participation and savings of low-to-moderate-income state-resident families. One such feature is a savings match that provides an incentive for families to save. This Center for Social Development document details the features of the matching grant programs of 11 State 529 College Savings Plans, including funding, match criteria, eligibility, application method, matching account, and distribution and forfeiture provisions.
